What is Vaccine?
Vaccine is a nod back to the old days of Resident Evil retro style survival horror games. It uses the old tank style controls. For anyone who does not know what that is, that is where you move the left toggle left and right to turn and forward or back to move the character. Vaccine portrays nostalgia perfectly. There are a few gripes with the game and a lot of pros to the game.
What makes Vaccine so great?
Vaccine plays very well. It has the right amount of difficulty to the gameplay to make it frustrating but re-playable. The camera is static and it adds a creepy effect to the game. You play as a male or female character who have slightly different stats but no back story unfortunately. There is storyline in this game except that your friend has been infected and you have to find the vaccine. That’s it.
Every time you play the game, the mansion is randomly generated. So that makes it fun to replay.
What makes Vaccine NOT so great?
This game is hard. I mean I have yet to find the vaccine without getting frustrated. Yes I know I mentioned how this game is re-playable, but to a certain point. I found myself picking it up and playing it about 2 to 3 times and then switching games. Don’t take me wrong, I like it a lot. But there is a steep learning curve due to the controls, camera, and gameplay.
So what do I conclude. I say if you can afford it, go ahead and get Vaccine. If you want to burn some time, it’s perfect to play while waiting for a meeting, train, or friend.
- Great Nostalgia
- Lovely retro art style
