I am Setsuna. Nintendo Switch Review

*Product Received by Developer*

I am Setsuna is a JRPG style game that was developed by Square-Enix. You play as a mercenary named Endir who is tasked to kill a young girl, Setsuna. Ironically, Setsuna is already chosen to be a sacrifice. So you accompany her along her journey to her death.

While playing I am Setsuna, I had a lot of callbacks to the original Final Fantasy days. The combat is time based and each party member has a underlying role. For example, Setsuna is considered to be a healer or support type, so she tends to hang out near the rear.

I am Setsuna has a strong narrative that carries you through the game. One thing we found weird was (we have not beat the game yet) that it seems like we know the beginning and ending of the game already, Setsuna is going to be sacrificed. We are hoping something else happens in the end, but the game seems kind of predictable. We are not taking points away for this, this is just a speculation. (No spoilers please!)

Overall, I am Setsuna is beautiful and it functions perfectly as a JRPG style game. It also fits perfectly on the Nintendo Switch, but if you are looking for a experience like Breath of the Wild, this might not be for you. But if you are looking for something to hold your attention and be a great tactical JRPG, then this is worth your time!
